The kick-off of the celebration of "Rabat African Capital of Culture" was given, last night at the Mohammed V Theatre in Rabat. This major cultural event is under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The inauguration was attended by Mrs. Asmaa Aghlalou, Mayor of Rabat, Mrs. Fatimetou Mint Abdel Malick, President of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG-Africa), and ambassadors and representatives of other governments.
In his speech read by the Secretary General of the Culture Sector, Mr. Abdelilah Afifi. Mr. Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication noted that the Ministry takes great interest in this event and coordinates with the Rabat City Council and local authorities.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by over a thousand people coming to enjoy the musical performances of the group Africa Fusion, the singer Oum. In addition, Douzi, L7OR and the group Ichtah interpreted the official song of this celebration.
